Stable Hall Weddings in San Antonio: A DJ's Guide to the Pearl's Music Hall

Yes, you can get married at Stable Hall. The Pearl's restored 1894 brewery stable reopened in January 2024 as a music hall that holds up to about 1,000 people, and it now hosts weddings, receptions, and corporate events. Because it was built for concerts, professional sound and lighting are already part of the room, and there's enough space for a full band and a DJ. Gaines Entertainment has DJed weddings and corporate events at Stable Hall, and it's one of our favorite rooms in San Antonio.
Most wedding venues are designed for a ceremony and a dinner. Stable Hall was designed for live music, and you can feel the difference the moment the dance floor opens. Here's what couples and planners should know.
What is Stable Hall?
Stable Hall sits in the Pearl district on the edge of downtown San Antonio. The oval brick building was commissioned in 1894 by the owners of the Pearl Brewery to house about 60 draft horses and the keg carts that delivered beer around town. It served as a private event space for years before a full renovation turned it into a live music venue, which opened to the public in January 2024.
The redesign, by Austin firms Clayton Korte and Joel Mozersky Design, added:
- A large stage with a velvet curtain
- A mezzanine and hayloft-style balconies that overlook the main floor
- Six bars
- A concert sound system built by Clair Global, with acoustic velvet on the walls
- A green room and a new dance floor
The Pearl's first look at the renovation and Texas Monthly's tour cover the building's history in more detail.
Why Stable Hall works so well for weddings
"I like the space a lot because it's a music venue and has a different energy in the room," says Winston Gaines, owner of Gaines Entertainment. "It's more of an open and fluid space, and because it's not a traditional wedding space, guests relax and let loose a lot faster."
A few things make that happen:
- The bar is part of the room. Guests don't disappear to a separate bar area. They stay close to the dance floor, so the energy stays high.
- Built-in seating and the balcony. Guests who aren't dancing can still watch from the balcony and mezzanine, so the room feels full and connected all night.
- The layout is flexible. The open floor can be set up for a seated dinner, a cocktail-style reception, or a packed dance floor, and it can change over the course of the night.
- It was built for live music. The stage, sound, and sight lines work for a DJ, a full band, or both.
The sound and lighting are already there
One of the biggest advantages of Stable Hall is that the production is part of the venue. Professional audio and stage lighting are built into the space. According to Stable Hall's WeddingWire listing, lighting and sound are included in the site fee.
For couples, that means:
- A clearer budget up front. Many venues require you to rent sound, stage lighting, and staging separately. At Stable Hall, much of that is already in the price you pay the venue.
- Less to bring in. For most weddings, what you need for speeches, a first dance, and a full dance floor is already in the room.
- A better-looking reception. Concert-grade lighting makes the room feel like an event, not a rented hall.
Gaines Entertainment works with the venue's built-in production instead of bringing in a full sound rig, so our setup stays clean and our focus stays on the music, hosting, and timeline.
Room for a full band and a DJ
Stable Hall's stage is big enough for a live band and a DJ in the same night. At Lauren and Blake's wedding, the venue accommodated both a full band and Gaines Entertainment's DJ setup, with handoffs between live sets and DJ sets that kept the dance floor going.
If you want live energy without a full band, our hybrid DJ + live musician option pairs a DJ with sax, guitar, violin, or percussion, and Stable Hall's stage is a natural fit for it.

Corporate events and brand activations at Stable Hall
Stable Hall's flexibility makes it a strong choice for corporate events too. Companies use it for client receptions, holiday parties, and brand activations, often for high-value clients they want to impress. Gaines Entertainment has DJed several corporate events there, from background music during networking to full dance parties.
For planners, the built-in production simplifies the run of show. Our corporate event entertainment covers the DJ, MC, and walk-in and award cues, and our guide to working with a DJ on a corporate event covers what to send your DJ before the event.
Planning your Stable Hall wedding
- Book early. Stable Hall is a working music venue with a concert calendar, so wedding dates are limited. Secure the venue first, then your DJ.
- Ask the venue what's included. Confirm which sound, lighting, and staging come with your package and what time you can load in.
- Plan how you'll use the balcony. Grand entrances, toasts, and photos from above all work well here.
- Decide on band, DJ, or both. The stage can handle all three options, so build your timeline around the energy you want.
